Routes

We like to mix things up! Usually we'll ride anywhere from 25km - 100km = up hill, down glen, through streams, road, gravel and the occasional bit of singletrack.

We're partial to the odd bikepacking overnighter or multi day route attempt too...

what were all about

Glas Grav aims to create a welcoming, inclusive and accessible atmosphere for people to come together and enjoy the outdoors through gravel cycling.

gRavel guide

Our rides are casual meet-ups. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own safety and well being at all times.

This is especially important as gravel rides often take us through very remote areas where aid might find it hard to reach us should we run into a problem. By attending Glas Grav rides you are saying you have read and understood, and will follow, the advice given below.

  1. Ride safely. Everyone has different abilities on the bike, always ride within yours, if you feel safer walking certain sections, then no problem, just jump off where safe too do so and walk.
  2. Carry all the spares and tools you are likely to need, and make sure you know how to use them.
  3. We absolutely believe that you should cycle in whatever you're comfortable with, no lycra necessary, but bear in mind our rides often climb to elevation and Scottish weather can change in an instant, so check the weather forecast before the ride and dress appropriately and bring extra too.
  4. Our rides make use of shared use paths, where you will encounter walkers, dogs, other riders and even the odd bit of wildlife. Be courteous and treat other users with respect at all times, everyone has a right to access the outdoors.
  5. Take the time to familiarise yourself with the route before the ride, Get a good idea of what the terrain will involve. If possible, upload the route to your cycling computer, phone or consider carrying a print out of the route. Were unlikely to get separated but if you do, you must be able to navigate your way home.
  6. Dont be afraid to ask for help, feel free to email us or message on instagram if you have any questions. Likewise if you're unsure about anything on a ride speak the route organiser about it.

Feedback

We have big hopes for Glas Grav. While our rides are pretty small at the moment, we would love to expand our community and offer more, such as; intros into bike-packing, woman's and non-binary rides and maybe some longer distance trips.

If you have any feedback about rides you've been on, how you think we could improve, things you'd like to see, or if you want to offer any help in this regard, then we'd love to hear from you. Just message us on instagram or email us at glasgrav@gmail.com
